Or now that we´re friends.

Wazzzuppp!!!

Your smiling aren't you?

Well I´m happy if I managed to put a smile on your face.

So you love movies and so do I. Why do you love movies? Just ask yourself that and once you've done that continue reading.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Movieek... Well it´s not actually that. My name is Kafeel. I am 25 years old from London. Growing up I loved movies so much they helped me through some of the most darkest times in my life and allowed me to escape and imagine worlds where I could be free. It is why I´ve been working hard to find tools to help me throughout my life. That is why I want to share a few things with you, my friend.

But before I begin I want to share something personal with you. On the 12th of September 2019 I went in for a life changing operation. We have to go back to 2009. I felt something weird... I didn't know what exactly I was feeling. I rushed to the bathroom and all I could feel was pain. I cried myself to sleep that night, unware of what had happened. As time went on the pain wouldn't go away. I would cry and cry saying to myself "why did this have to happen to me". The pain was too much. Finally I got to the age of 16 where I had an operation. I remember being terrified not knowing what would happen. I was in bed for a week as I recovered and before I knew it I soon started to feel normal again. I was so happy and grateful and I continued on with my life.

HOWEVER... As time went on my condition started to deteriorate and I could feel the same pain coming back. My operation which I thought was successful had failed. I was distraught and didn't know what to do. I spoke with doctors and they told me they could try again. So I had another operation on the 13th of June 2017, a day before the awful tragic events of Grenfell Tower. I didn't know how to feel about this one as my previous operation had failed, nevertheless I pushed through all the pain and got through it. As time went on guess what? Another failure. I was so upset I couldn't do this anymore and I got to a point where everything almost ended including my life. I was at my lowest point and didn't know where to go or who to see.

Furthermore I just wanted to do nothing. Nonetheless with the little energy I had I kept going one step at a time, one day at a time. I spoke with one doctor who said "Now your only option is to have this major operation and it is important to understand that there could be some complications that could change your life forever". I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I went home that day and cried thinking that I wouldn't never be normal again. In the end I decided I couldn't continue with this excruciating pain and I went through with the major operation.

So on the 12th of September 2019 I went in for my life changing operation. I woke up and could instantly feel the inside of my face. It felt tight. The left side of my face had been sewn. I couldn't eat food properly for a few weeks. I was one of the most challenging parts of my life I had to go through.

However at the time of writing this I can happily say that this operation was a success and I am healthy. Although I went through a lot to get to this point.

This is why I am trying to help you as much as I can because I know what it is like to go through absolute shit. I am hear for you and I want to tell you to never, ever, give up because even though you have dark days, there are goods days and when those days come they shine brighter than ever.

Thank you for reading this story, I really appreciate it. So now that you know a little more about me let me introduce you to something for you my friend, you're going to love it.

If you are a filmmaker, actor, composer or just a general movie enthusiast I am going to give you 6 awesome scientifically ways to make your movie life better.

I call it the Sinister Six.

Let me give you the tour.

1. Times are tough and we all need a little reminder of the power we have and what we can do to make our lives better. I know for one that I have struggled personally a lot in my life and movies have helped me escape and forget about my pain. That is why I love them so much. As I am pretty sure you've experienced in your life... You have days where you feel like crap. That's normal it's called being human. That's why I created an exclusive downloadable Spiderman poster for you. The science behind this is simple. MRI Research suggest that certain neural pathways are increased when we practice self-affirmation (Cascio et al , 2016). So when your feeling low use this to reaffirm and practice saying a positive phrase like the one on the poster. Your life is worth something and you are destined for great things. I believe in you because with great power comes great responsibility.

2. I remember... Friday evenings going with my dad to Blockbusters and picking a film or two which we would watch on the weekend. Ahhh good times. Good memories. Take a trip down memory lane and enjoy an artwork which will give you that nostalgic feeling. It is actually good for you to remember the good ol' days. Research relating to cognitive therapy highlights that using the memory strategy could help people who suffer from depression by recalling positive day-to-day experiences (Dong et al, 2017). So there you go, remember and appreciate the good times in life.

3. If you’re feeling stressed out or your thinking of a great gift to give someone who loves movies then check this out. I have for you a colouring book which features 10 characters that you can give to a friend, loved one OR you can use it yourself. Did you know that colouring has the ability to relax the fear centre of your brain, the amygdala. It induces the same state as meditating by reducing the thoughts of a restless mind (Flett et al, 2017). You might be thinking colouring no way that's not for me, but don't knock it before you try it. Honestly it allows you focus and forget your troubles. 'Hakuna Matata'

4. Take the best seat in the house literally. Another fun gift to make movie night awesome. Grab your ticket and make sure you follow the rules. Everyone in your house/apartment will love this one. Now what is interesting about watching movies is the healing it can provide to people. Birgit Wolz, PhD., MFT, says that: Thus this highlights the importance being able to safely project emotions in a sheltered environment, which you may not necessarily experience in your normal life, giving you that cathartic release.

5. Now this one is for the movie enthusiasts. How many times have you wanted to watch a film but you just couldn´t decide? I´ve had this problem before. This is quite common to experience. Researchers illustrate that too many choices may actually be more of a problem, as you are less likely to make more effective decisions (DeAngelis, 2004). This is why I have created a complete A-Z movies you should watch before you die. You only have one life. Enjoy it while you can with friends, family and loved ones. Go through the list from start to finish.

6. Finally we have your very own weekly journal to help manage your emotions. If you’re having a bad day and you don´t have anyone to talk to or you don´t feel confident enough to express yourself to someone, then I have a weekly journal where you can let out all your emotions. Me, being someone who is generally shy I used this a lot. Most of the time I felt as if I were talking to myself, however it allowed me to express myself. All my emotions. Good and bad, it really was a life saver. Furthermore this is backed up with research depicting that weekly enactment of self-managment has important implications for overall well-being and performance (Pekaar, Bakker, van der Linden, Born & Sirén, 2018). So just let it out. Don´t hold it in please for your own well-being.
